LO - Iowa CCR Academy 101: Foundations of College and Career Readiness In Iowa

This course is for any Iowa licensed educator, including but not limited to K-12 classroom teachers, school and district leaders, school counselors, curriculum staff, and other related student support services such as school social workers, school psychologists, and school nurses (as well as paraeducators). In addition, this course is relevant for any college or career-access personnel including career intermediaries, college access professionals, college admissions counselors, college advisors, and pre-service educators in programs leading to completion in an area listed above. The course provides an overview of the current state of college and career readiness in Iowa. The purpose of Foundations of College and Career Readiness in Iowa is to raise awareness and develop an understanding of the current landscape in Iowa regarding students’ readiness to pursue and succeed in completing a post-secondary credential. Participants will engage in interactive discussions in an online learning environment, complete practical, hands-on activities throughout the course, and examine the current literature and trends in college and career readiness.

This course is brought to you by the Bureau of Iowa College Aid at the Department of Education in partnership with AEA Postsecondary Readiness and Equity Partnership (PREP), and AEA Learning Online.

Note: The terminology “college and career" is used throughout this course to refer to any post-secondary education or training in accordance with the Iowa College and Career Readiness definition: “Post-secondary opportunities include two or four-year degree programs, certificate or licensure programs, apprenticeships, training programs in the military, on-the-job training, and industry-based certifications."
